A Week in the Life (and What a Week It Was)
Last Wednesday, I hosted my 5-Year Anniversary party (still can’t believe it’s been that long). By Friday morning, I was on a train to New York City for a 3-day whirlwind at the CTDA Show. I got back last night, and tonight I’m heading straight into a networking event with the New England Event Professionals.
Summer can slow down a bit when it comes to customer orders, but the event calendar? It ramps all the way up.
I’ve talked about the CTDA (Custom Tailors & Designers Association) before (click here to read that post) this show is always a highlight, and this year didn’t disappoint. One of the biggest moments for me? Sitting in the audience while Christopher Corey spoke. I remember stumbling on his Instagram back in 2015 and watching his journey unfold. Now he has over half a million followers—and I got to ask him a question in real life. Wild.
Beyond that, the weekend was packed with great conversations and better company. I met with my garment and shirt factories—honestly, at this point it feels more like catching up with old friends. But what I always look forward to is sitting down with the fabric houses. This time I connected with Caccopoli, Holland & Sherry, and for the first time, Reda. If I could carry everyone’s fabrics, I would. But part of the magic is curating a tight, intentional selection to share with clients.
And yes, we danced. The boat cruise was a blast, because custom clothing can feel intimidating or elitist, but it doesn’t have to be. I think a lot of that image comes from clothiers who post only slow-mo reels with moody lighting and Italian jazz. But at the end of the day, we’re just people. People with a passion for craftsmanship, connection, and occasionally tearing up the dance floor.
