About Us FAQ

  • Led by fashion industry veteran Matthew Banever, we’re a company rooted in integrity, not shortcuts. We believe quality takes time, and every garment should reflect its true cost. If something seems cheap, someone else is paying the price. Our mission is to celebrate individuality and revive the expert craftsmanship behind timeless American clothing.

  • There’s something undeniably powerful about American-made clothing. It’s not just about rarity, it’s about meaning. Instead of outsourcing for profit, we partner with a select few U.S. factories, where we’ve seen the skill, pride, and humanity firsthand. We’re committed to domestic production, not just to revive a legacy, but to support the families and communities who keep it alive. Every garment we make carries your story and honors the hands that craft it.

  • Because we used to. In the 1960s, 98% of clothing was made here. Today, it’s less than 3%. Bringing production back supports real people, your neighbors, not faceless factories overseas. It keeps money in our communities, preserves generations of craft, and ensures quality you can feel. American-made isn’t just a label, it’s a legacy worth reviving.

  • People love to reminisce about a time when things were built to last, when craft mattered and quality wasn’t optional. We don’t just romanticize that era, we’re working to bring it back. At the same time, we’re drowning in excess. There’s enough clothing on this planet to dress the next seven generations. That’s not just wasteful, it’s a systemic failure.

The answer isn’t more. It’s better. Buy less. Buy with intention. Buy what lasts.

Craft & Fit FAQ

  • We source our fabrics from some of the finest mills in the world, Dormeuil in France, Holland & Sherry in England, Vitale Barberis Canonico in Italy, and American Woolen right here in Connecticut. These legendary mills also supply names like Tom Ford, Brioni, and Canali. Every fabric is ethically sourced, with animal welfare and environmental responsibility at the forefront. Because luxury should never come at the cost of integrity.

  • Every Bards garment is proudly made in the United States by expert tailors, pattern makers, and artisans who have dedicated their lives to the craft. We’re not outsourcing for the sake of profit, we’re investing in people, preserving skills, and breathing life back into an industry that once defined this nation. In a time when less than 2% of clothing is made here, we take pride in leading the movement to reshore American apparel, where quality, intention, and legacy come first.

  • Yes, we tailor everything to fit you. Prefer a slimmer silhouette? Just let your Bard know and we’ll design with that in mind, down to the style lines and proportions. For Big & Tall, we take precise measurements and offer the same full range of fabrics and custom details. No size is off-limits when it’s made for your story.

  • Dry clean only. Our garments are made from natural fibers, allowing them to be worn multiple times before cleaning. You should dry clean your garments every few wears (only a few times a year).
